Change to cervical screening
Update on cervical screening
You may have seen on the news that from next month the national cervical cancer screening programme will be moving to routine 5yrly screening for women at all ages (25-64) if they have a negative history of HPV.
This is due to the overwhelming success of the HPV vaccination programme, as well as improved technology and processes meaning that more frequent smears are unnecessary.

A reminder that we are unable to carry out cervical screening on anyone who hasn’t received an invitation letter from the national team, regardless of the situation.
If you have symptoms of cervical cancer you should still contact us directly for an appointment.
