From 31st January 2024, the new NHS PharmacyFirst scheme has been launched. This means that community pharmacies can now assess and treat 7 common conditions (including antibiotics if clinically appropriate):
UTI or cystitis in women between 16 and 64 years old
Shingles in adults over 18
Impetigo in anyone over 1 year old
Infected insect bites in anyone over 1 year old
Sore throats and tonsillitis in anyone over 5 years old
Sinusitis/colds in anyone over 12 years old
Ear infections in children between 1 and 17 years old
You can either turn up at your local pharmacy, or phone them to see if you can book a time.
